Wherever You Go, There You Are?

The famous quote basically means that you can’t run away from your problems.

It’s true.

In one sense

But it leaves out the other half of the equation: different places change who we are

And some places are just better for us than others.

Some spaces better support us in being and dealing with who we are.

Just as different people do.

Or living in nature vs. the city

Being somewhere warm vs. cold

Living closer to resources, such as art or friends and family, we need at a given phase in life.

Each of these external environments can make a big difference for our internal environment.

While a change of scenery won’t heal certain wounds or disappear certain problems, our surrounds affect us and can also influence, to any degree, issues that seem intractable and immune to moving.

So don’t wholly believe the half-truth maxim that it’s not a good idea to pick up and leave.

That just because you have issues means that it’s useless or silly to change it up.

Unless, of course, you are running away from yourself.

But even this may be what you need.

Maybe you need a break, or to discover that trying to get away from your insides doesn’t work!

Either way, it’s worthwhile to examine why you want to move somewhere. It could save you a lot of time, energy, and money.

Or make you more focused on what you do need.

But sometimes we just have a gut feeling to move or to travel, and no amount of analysis can decipher what the purpose is.

We may just have to move to find out.

Wherever you go, there you are

and

Wherever you go, there you continue becoming

and

Get to discover more of you.
